The drive takes about 1 hr 15 mins from central Cape Town, or about 15 mins longer if you travel via the more picturesque Bain’s Kloof pass on the R301. The farm is just off the R43, before you reach Wolseley.
Option 1: N1/R44/R301 Bain’s Kloof Pass (via Wellington)
If travelling via Bain’s Kloof, take the R44 Klapmuts turn-off from the N1 and travel via Wellington. Once in Wellington drive down Church Street and into Bain’s Kloof Pass. On exiting Bain’s Kloof take a left towards Ceres onto the R43.
About 4km later you will see the turn-off to Hoogwater farm on your left. If you reach the Voortrekker Road turn-off that takes you into Wolseley, you have gone 2.5km too far!
On the gravel road marked HOOGWATER, turn right at the T Junction. Keep driving till until you round the corner. You will see the cottage on your left.
Option 2: N1/R101/R43 (via Slanghoek Valley):
If you don’t have a head for heights, you can travel along the N1 towards Worcester. Take the turn-off towards Rawsonville, there will be a weigh bridge on your left. Take the next exit left into Slanghoek. Drive straight through the Slanghoek Valley and after you cross the river you will reach a T junction. Turn left towards Wolseley/Ceres.
Should you choose this route, please contact me at 083 762 2803 prior to your departure to make sure the river has not flooded the low water bridge.
The turn-off to Hoogwater farm from the R43 is approximately 7km from this junction. If you reach the Voortrekker Road turn-off that takes you into Wolseley, you have gone 2.5km too far!
